Civil Engineer
Mission
The core mission of this position is to play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of HOUTEX Engineering by leveraging technical expertise in civil engineering and design. The Civil Engineer will primarily focus on delivering comprehensive land development solutions for a diverse range of Texas projects. The role requires full office work, with the possibility of remote work arrangements, and entails collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to meet client requirements, adhere to local regulations, and expand our relationships with larger developers and projects. The Civil Engineer will bring a strong sense of urgency and passion to the position, playing a key role in scaling up our company and assisting in strategic decision-making processes. They will utilize their expertise to ensure the timely completion of projects and contribute to the overall revenue growth, customer base expansion, and operational efficiency of HOUTEX Engineering.
Accountabilities
- Project Delivery and Execution - Produce high-quality engineering and construction plans, reports, and studies for land development projects within specified timelines and budget constraints.

Key Criteria/Requirements
- City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, and Fort Bend County design process experience required.
- Possess a PE in Texas, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering (MS preferred) and 5+ years of relevant project experience.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design and production purposes.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of local, state, and international codes and standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong organizational abilities.

Cad Drafter & Designer
Mission
The CAD Drafter and Designer position is dedicated to supporting the successful execution of civil engineering projects through the proficient use of Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil3D programs. The primary mission is to produce accurate plans, drawings, maps, and reports for site development projects, including grading, drainage, water and sewer plans, and creating profile sections of roadways and utilities. This role also involves generating fill and cut profiles, conducting analysis, and developing detail drawings in accordance with local engineering practices and available products.
Effective research skills, utilizing internet resources and modern technologies, are essential for gathering information and ensuring compliance with authorities' requirements. The CAD Drafter and Designer will perform necessary calculations using Microsoft Excel and adapt spreadsheets to meet project and code specifications. Proficiency in utilizing integrated plugins in Civil3D for hydraulic and hydrology analysis is highly valued.
Furthermore, adaptability, research proficiency, and the ability to reverse engineer previous projects are important attributes. Collaboration with civil engineers and adherence to design guidelines are vital aspects of the role. Key Criteria/Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience performing CAD drafting duties in Civil Engineering, Survey or Hydrology fields.
- Associates or higher degree in related fields.
- Highly proficient in utilizing CAD advanced tools such as External Reference, Sheet Set Manager, annotations, styles, layouts, page setup, user coordinate system (UCS), and dynamic blocks.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering documents, including prints, specifications, manuals, and other relevant materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and experience using cloud-based tools for collaboration and document management.
